How is the 24x Apple drive working for your system, and which ata controller did you connect it too? I just have the Acard 66 which I see has very limited support for atapi devices.
I am wondering about my scsi chain with this particular situation. I think maybe minimizing the amount of scsi devices I have from the chain (cdburner, zip drive, and flopppy) may increase my chances of getting a successful install of X Hi Darwin, OK the answer to your question on the ATA PCI card. I have two ATA cards I have a Ahard 6260M ATA 66 that I flashed with an upgrade before starting that has the two ATA HD on it on separate ribbon cables. The other card is a Sonnet ATA 100 (Ultra Tek) that has my CD-ROM and Polaroid CD-RW on it. I have no problems with either and I can boot from the 24x Apple CD-ROM drive. I took a hint from Will in regard to going all ATA when I had problems using an older Ext SCSI drive. The ram that is in the machine is two 128 mb and two 64 mb sticks. They all were used in a Umax machine and the 2 128's came from DMS the 64's came from Coast to Coast. Check for my email response and in regard to 10.2.8 I am glad I started there. It has been an absolute pleasure using it. I am a webmaster and I do a lot of graphics work. At the moment the IMS Micro Twin Turbo 128 8Mb has served very well but when working in PhotoShop and Graphic Converter I can see it is a little sluggish. I have been downloading all day content that I won in a random drawing from one of my Content providers. Not one freeze or hang. Contact me off-line re the testing the ram and the OS X install CD. I have some more ideas for you. Yesterday I upgraded the #2 machines ram to 400 mb from 170 and downgrade the OS from 9.2.2 to 9.1. I was not happy with its performance and far to many freezes when clicking on a window to close or similiar actions which never had previously. Now it will be #1 machine that will get more attention ie. more ram and a USB 2.0 hub, so that I can get the 2.0 transfer speed on my USB 2.0 Acom 40 GB ext drive. BTW if you think about it Apple does not sell their new machines with SCSI HD anymore they are all ATA. I think that is maybe one of the reasons why my S-900 is so comfortable running 10.2.8 without a burp. Richard B. -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
