It appears that the Sapphire pci Radeons may no longer be flashable to mac as the manufacturer has apparently replaced the original 128k rom chip with one half size at 64k - and the mac rom requires the full 128k regardless of the flash method used. The part numbers are unchanged so identifying the 64k rom cards is quite difficult. More info is on the MacLife site if anyone is interested.
Well, a bit of soldering...Anyone tried that?
Oh, and to add to my earlier message, if anyone works their way down to Axiontech.com on the PowerColor sellers list, exercise caution. You'll find the PowerColor Radeon 7000, 64 MB DDR for $37.95 but it's the AGP version, not the PCI version. It takes a bit of perusal of part numbers to figure it out, or scrolling down the page to the $56.95 card which is the PCI version.
That's irritating. The components for the AGP card cost just about exactly what the ones on the PCI card cost.
