It appears that the Sapphire pci Radeons may no longer be flashable to mac as the manufacturer has apparently replaced the original 128k rom chip with one half size at 64k - and the mac rom requires the full 128k regardless of the flash method used. The part numbers are unchanged so identifying the 64k rom cards is quite difficult. More info is on the MacLife site if anyone is interested.
Argghhh. MacLife is auf Deutsch. Are you sure about this 64K vs. 128K thing? Because I just checked the serial flash chips on the two cards you were kind enough to sell to me, and they have 64KB chips. So I'm guessing that it's a 32KB vs. 64KB issue, or something else is going on.
BTW, is there any discussion there about using a parallel flash instead of a serial flash. The board clearly has a position for parallel flash (PLCC-32) but it also looks like one might have to install some serial to parallel buffer chips as well to make that work.
Oh, details on the chips. The chips are from ST Microelectronics. They are M25P05V6 chips. ST Micro lists those as a 64 KB serial flash chip. The 128KB flash is a M25P10V6.
