Alan: Received my ADS Dual Link FW/USB card in the mail today. Just finished installing it and giving it a go. As per my previous post, I tried capturing from the DV camera to the internal SCSI HD and no problem - capturing from the DV camera to the external FW HD caused the computer to lock up immediately requiring a forced restart. So, I followed your instructions as above and >BINGO<, I can now capture directly from my camcorder to the OWC 80GB FW drive without crashing! This is a serious improvement in my work flow as I no longer need to record to the internal HD, capture in small chunks (I'm now down to a 4GB drive due to the 9GB biting the dust) and copy to the FW drive. I thought I had tried throttling the OWC drive back before and it didn't solve the problem, but perhaps I didn't reboot, or maybe I didn't use the right settings ... hard to say. At any rate, thanks so much for your suggestion. I'm now happily back in "DV Land" again, better than ever. PS Pioneer DVD-RW is working great w/Apple DVD Player v2.7, the USB port seems to be recognizing the Epson printer - about the only thing I haven't tried is the HP S20 scanner (USB), which only works under Virtual PC, but don't anticipate any problems. Thanks again. I wish you and your family a great holiday season. -- Gregg -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
