I've been reading Ryan's site at OWC. I seem to follow the overall procedure but have one question. Do you have to go from OS 9.1 to 10 to 10.1 to 10.1.5 to 10.2 to 10.2.8 to 10.3? Can you go directly from 9.1 to 10.2 with the correct version of XPF? Is it all a building block, how many OS versions do you need to buy, etc? How many versions of XPF do you need to use? These are the things I wish someone would answer for me. Thanks, Paul
You just need the latest version of XPF. It will install 10.2 or 10.3 directly. You don't need to go thru each version.
However, you need to keep 9.1 on your system, so you have a way to boot X. XPF makes it possible to boot the OS X install CD on machines that otherwise are incapable of booting X. XPF itself is a OS 9 app, so that is why you need 9.1. Although the latest versions are supposed to be able to run under OS X also.
