Question for Will S in particular or anyone else who has run both OS's. For Photoshop use- not gaming, with 1040MB of RAM and a 450 G4 card would you run Jaguar or Panther right now for stable performance in an S900? Thanks, Paul Corsa

I would run Panther. 10.3 is faster than 10.2, and I have had no stability problems with either. My S900 has 700 megs RAM, a Sonnet G4/450 and is all SCSI, and runs fine. Well, the hard drives are SCSI, but I could not get a SCSI CD-ROM to work, and I tried several. So I got another VST Ultra/66 IDE card and use that to run an IDE CD-ROM. I don't really use my S900 much these days, now that I have a "Blue & White G4" - a B&W G3 with a Sonnet G4/500 card. I have 10.3 on both, and I still have a 10.2.8 partition on the S900.

10.3 also looks better, IMO. The eye-killing pinstripes are largely gone. If you don't have either, then get 10.3. If you already have 10.2.8, then 10.3 isn't that different and may not be worth $130 to you - unless you can find a better deal on it!

Dan
