Hi Will-
Thanks for the info.
Did you notice any speed increase with Panther? I have the install disks from my Powerbook and I've been itching to give it a try on the S900. I could not overcome the loss of some of my SCSI drives with Jaguar including the loss of my scanner. My solution was to get another S900 and run those drives and scanner from it using 9.2.2. I could not get my ATTO fast SCSI card to upgrade either... I guess every gain also brings a loss. But Jaguar is a great upgrade for the S900. When something freezes at least everything else still runs... except very occasionally,..

I forgot about the much talked about speed increase in Panther. yes, it is faster then Jaguar. Not any where as fast as OS 9 but still a nice increase. I'm no speed demon and i'm lucky enough to have a G3 500 running at 550 MHz so either are really fast enough for most of what I do. i would like some more speed for Video encoding but that really needs a fast G4 or really G5 somday....Well since you have more then one machine I say go for it and see what you think. you are so right about the every gain seems to bring a loss. This is sometimes noted as two steps forward and one step back ;-)
Dan S , I'm surprised your running Panther on SCSI hard drives since that is the most talked about Panther issue. I've no idea why your SCSI CD drives won't run as both of mine are fine. Several people have said the external SCSI plug on the motherboard works for them and not the internal plug. I like the pin strips and the more metal look of Panther takes some getting used to for me. I do however like the new look and functions of the finder. Will S
