Well I reread Ryan's instructions and it turns out
that his bug says that his program reports the cache
is off when it's not as opposed to what I'm
experiencing which is that Apple's profile software
reports the cache is off and Ryan's reports that it's
on. So I'm left with apple's software not reporting
right or some other weird thing.

Is there any benchmark software for X that's cheap or
free? Maybe I could check the machine for performance
changes with it the cache off and on. Or... is there
any software that ALWAYS tells if the cache is really
on or not?
