hi,I, personally, would recommend the SIIG ATA/133. I have one in slot 3. It works great. There is no 8 GB limit problem. One caution, though: if you do get one, be sure and initialize in OS 9.
so i'm finally looking to upgrade my hard drive/controller in my S900.
the general specs are: MaxPowr g4/400 upgrade 648 MB RAM USB/FW card (#1) radeon 7000 (#2) 9gb seagate scsi on internal bus
from what I can tell looking through the archives, i have a few options.
<snip>
the sonnet or sigg ata/133 cards seem popular, but i've read conflicting reports about whether they need to be in the top two slots. if so i have a problem since i have a radeon 7000 card and a usb/firewire card already sitting there.
If you search the archives here - probably for "ATA" or "Will S" - you can find a great explanation of the strengths and weaknesses of the various chip sets that Will S gave a while back. Like you, I have a Radeon 7000 in slot 1. My specs are:
S900 w/ PowerLogix G3/500
PCI slot 1: ATI Radeon 7000 32 MB
slot 2: free
slot 3: SIIG ATA/133 (40 GB partitioned in two equal parts, 10.3 on one; 10.2 on other)
slot 4: OWC FireWire card
slot 5: free
slot 6: USB card
Good luck, Christopher
