Hi, has anyone on this list tried to run linux on their supermac? I've got a S900 with a Newertech G3 550mhz card and a twin turbo graphics card and I'd like to run both OS9 (which is currently on it) and a version of Linux. I'm leaning towards Yellow Dog Linux http://www.yellowdoglinux.com simply for the ammount of doccumentation that it gives, but I'm open for suggestions otherwise (I'm aware that there are a few others that work on a powerpc architecture). I have to also warn you that I am very new to Linux so any pointers you could give would be very appreciated. Thanks.

Eric, I ran LinuxPPC for nearly 2 years on my C500 Umax machine. I had trouble figuring out how to install it. However it ran great once that hurdle was passed. I'm sure the install must be easier these days. LinuxPPC was the best in those days and Yellow Dog was promised but hadn't arrived. LinuxPPC is long gone but Yellow Dog is based on the work they did. So I'm guessing it works well.

Is the place to go for info. They list at least 8 versions of Linux for the PPC! SUSE is one of the best on X86 so it's likely their PPC version would also be worth looking into.
I gave up on Linux once OSX arrived and haven't looked back since. Best of luck Will S
