I don't know if this will solve your problems or not, but check Roxio's web site for updates for both Toast and Spin Doctor. Since you upgraded your OS to 9.1 you may just need some upgrades. The version number on Toast sitting in my OS 9.2.2 partition is 5.2.3. I no longer use Spin Doctor, so I don't know about what version number is the most recent one.
