Lots of people use USB or Firewire external CD drives and burners, which sidesteps this install issue. Others are running CD drives or burners off their IDE card, which also works. As I said, SCSI may work if the drive's ROM is updated. I haven't crossed that bridge with my SCSI Plextors yet. You might also make a Disc Image of the CD and install from that, I think? Paul C

If a SCSI CD doesn't work... how do I use the install disk?
Network?

CD boot is the best way to install though...right?

The posts I've read on the XPostFacto Forrum seem to indicate that SCSI drives do work in Panther, BUT SCSI CDs and BURNERS don't work. This may be a ROM update issue. There was an interesting post that Plextor has OSX ROM updates on its Euro website that don't appear on the US one. In any event you should be able to go to 10.2.8 with both SCSI Drives and CDs.
