I have been having weird problems and upgrading to 9.1 hasn't helped much.

The most serious problem is that I can't record and burn music CD-Roms.

The internal speaker quit working. I messed around with the connections and
it will make croaking noises but it doesn't work. I have hooked up an old
Kenwood KVR-A90R receiver to the input and output ports. It seems to record
ok, at least spin doctor and one freeware recording programs work, they show
both channels recording, but spin doctor on my ATA 100 drive quits when you
stop recording and whenever I load a sound file. After recording it won't
create the sound file. If I load it into the copy of spin doctor on my SCSI
drive it will do everything until I go to hand off to Toast then I get the
buss errors and complete lockup. I then have to push the reset button and
reboot. On the ATA Drive it will hand off but Toast just locks up.

I tried upgrading to the latest version of Toast 5.2 something but it won't
go. The agree button isn't available on installation. I tried installing it
after holding down the shift key on bootup, then I get an error about not
having the right "installlib".

I think I may have some underlying hardware problem, but I don't know what
it is. I upgraded the roms on the sonnet ata card to 4.0, but naturally that
didn't make much difference. This s900 works fine, except that the apple 24x
cdrom drive is cranky and will only boot factory cdroms and has a hard time
doing that.

I found that the cables inside the s900 sometimes can jack the jummpers on
the XLR8 card and it will only run at 172mhz instead of 400 like its
supposed to. I had another scsi drive with an HD Toolkit driver on it that
got mangled in some incomprehensible way. Norton wouldn't touch it and
apple's First aid would work on it but couldn't fix it. It reported that the
leaves were crossed. I wanted to zero the drive and put apple's drivers on
it but I could only zero it and couldn't write any drivers other than HD
Toolkit. This drive is no longer in my computer.

I'm thinking about just chucking this and getting a used G4.
