Mark,
I don't have the answers to your other questions Mark but for this you might
try blowing out your cdrw using a can of air. A slight dust filament can
exacerbate symptoms of slow (or non) mounting of cd's.

If you open the tray and peer inside using a flashlight, you should be able
to see the eye in the center and downward. If you can't, it's still there.

Open your tray, with the extension hose attached to the can, try to hold can
upright in front of the tray but don't push on tray or you will cause it to
close on you and it might catch the hose. If you can't get close enough
from in front of the tray, you might try it from the side of the tray, but
if you hold the can at too much of an angle, you might begin spraying a
liquid oxygen type fluid and no telling what harm this could cause to
circuits or glass (sometimes plastic) eye. So a sample spray into the air
will tell you your limits. A half full can would be best if turning it
sideways. Depending on cdrw design, keep the nossle at least 1" away from
the eye. You don't have to hit it with much pressure either.

If you are fairly dexterious (and fast), you can get the can up close to the
opening from under the tray and guide the nossle hose up through the middle
of the tray towards where the eye is. While holding the can up through the
bottom, you are then grasping the hose from the top with your other hand and
aiming it slightly downwards w/ slight wiggling sideways towards where the
eye is. (Holding it still may not reach all spots on the eye) But you have
to be quite careful this way because if you so much as tap the tray from the
front, it will close on you and could catch the whole can and no telling how
it will respond. Most will reopen but some may not have this feature, so
you gotta be real quick.

Hope this helps

Dave
