Hi, When you formatted the drive on XP, what directory format did you use, FAT32, or NTFS? I've never tried accessing such a large drive from 9.1 before, so I'm not sure which format might work, but you might want to try using the format that you didn't use the first time.
If neither format set up from XP is readable from your Mac, then you might want to try setting up the drive as multiple partitions. I'm not sure how 9.1 would read any partition other than the first one, but trying this would be a good test to see if it's the large size of the partition that is causing your problem on 9.1. Another alternative might be to do a PC format from an OS X utility, if such a utility exists. It might just be that when the 9.1 format utility was released, disks as large as yours hadn't been provided for in the software. Hope this helps, Ken On 8/4/04 8:05 PM, "jack law" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hello, > > I am trying to hook an external usb harddrive with a > maxtor 160 gb drive in a usb enclosure.
