Hi Jack, As Ken has mentioned, be sure that you are formatting using FAT32. I know that neither OSX nor OS 9 can read NTFS. You might try partitioning the drive in half. Definitely do it on the Wintel box. I don't believe I was ever able to satisfactorily format a hard drive with FAT32 under OS 9, only Zip disks and floppies. HTH, paul -- Paul F.
