It's good to hear from you... it's been some time since this list has had some traffic. I'm aware of the things you mentioned and I might be able to clarify something for you. Each user has a set of folders that are active and available to that user, which includes the desktop folder as well as the document folder and all the rest, easily seen when you click on to your user icon. The document folder that you see in the sidebar is just an alias of the same document folder for the logged in user. While all the user folders of non logged in users are visible they are not openable (is that a real word?) except for the "public" folder which has a drop box. You can place anything in a non logged in users drop box but will be warned that you cant see (look at) the results of your move.
