Hi All.
I was wondering if I install Panther on a Firewire drive will I be able to start up from it on my S900?
Many Thanks.
Jacqueline

Jacqueline,

I imagine there are combinations of Firewire cards and other slot allocations for which it would *not* work, but I can tell you that it is possible to boot into Panther on a Firewire drive attached to an S900. That is how I do regular maintenance and backups on mine.

I have an OWC (single-purpose) Firewire card in slot 4. I use XPostFacto and a helper volume to boot into a volume on my FW drive that has Panther. I do maintenance and backups, then use XPF to point back to my main S900 volume.

I'd say go for it.

All the best,
Gary
