First, with a much blated thanks to Will for replying to my question about OS-X System folder items.
It helped me stop wasting time.

As for the next question, let's say I do an install on an external firewire using the install disks...
Is there a routine for dragging over certain items so the new install is 'updated' to the existing System items ?
Once again I'm thinking of folders such as Library and dragging over the Applications folder.
Or....dragging over the 'System' folder so it replaces the newly installed System and add any hidden items.

I have a bootable external firewire (but not for an s900) that I created by basically dragging over the entire contents of the internal drive.
It was done as a backup and basically mirrors the internal drive.
Selectively dragging over what I think is System related has failed on an experiement for another machine.

On another note, one project for 2005 is to finally getting around to tinkering with installing X on the idling s900 using xpostfacto.

Thanks for your help.

Alan
