Ah, the 'should i spent more money on the s900?' conundrum...
Just an observation - there are certain 'modern' tasks that are best left to current machines.
Although part of the fun for this group is to extend the useful life of our machines, I drew the line for myself a while back.
There is also the cost/benefit factor and I'm not certain what you're proposing is the way to go.
And there is also the 133 card - when it comes time to upgrade to a newer machine, will this migrate ?
For video crunching, even a single processor G5 isn't fast enough for some folks.
So if you skip the G4 series, what will you do with the 133 card ?
I suppose it could remain in the s900 but for most 'slower' tasks the s900 will continue to perform, the 66 card is probably plenty good enough.
Newer G5 DP Macs come with SerialATA, Firewire 800 and you have the option of checking the refurb section at Apple's site.
With Firewire 800, you can also build your own external drives with cases from OWC.
I am not suggesting abandoning the s900 - it is a fine machine that can continue to specialize in its own strength.
