I'm purchasing this upgrade on Friday, for my latest Frankintosh�, and
would love to attempt this hack.
A buddy of mine loaned me his G4/800 for a couple of weeks. I
examined it. Overclocking it is the easiest thing in the world.
The oscillator is on the back in (IIRC) a half-size metal can. All
you need to do is to remove the 50 MHz oscillator and replace it with
the speed that you wish. Of course, if you remove the original
oscillator, I recommend replacing it with a socket to make
experimentation easier.

chipping goes all the way back to the IIsi.
Output Enablers, who is linked on that page, used to sell a little
clip-on gizmo which would disable the existing oscillator and allow
you to install a replacement without any soldering or other fun. I
don't know if they still sell stuff or not. I think that the last
time that I emailed them I received no reply, but that is no
dispositive.
