very true. i just found a working 7100 that someone discarded at the university, dropped an old 2gig scsi HD into it, and passed it on to a financially disadvantaged college freshman, who was tickled pink to have any computer at all. anyone who is just going to surf the 'net, do a little word-processing, or maybe light art work can still benefit from older machines, even 68xxx machines. after all, aren't we subscribed to this group exactly because we are trying to wring every last drop of value out of our computers? isn't the existance of groups like this one an attempt to take a stand against the (imho, morally bankrupt) disposable mindset of conspicuous consumerism?

and maybe members could/should continue to read the list even if there is nothing more they can learn, so they might someday pass what they have learned on to others? isn't that the sincerest way to say thanks for all the free help received?
