Years ago I was able to install 8.1 from a machine specific cd on my C600.
I can't seem to remember how it went.  It seems to me that I drug the system
folder onto the drive where I wanted it installed.  It shouldn't have been
bootable, but it was.  Or did I crack the tome somehow?  Man, I'm sorry I
don't remember.  But I do know that it can be done.
