In a misguided attempt to fix some weird behavior by Apple
programs--Address Book Cards wouldn't display, Mail wouldn't do
automatic checks--I reset the PRAM. Now I can't start up at all. I get
the chime and a little bit of disk access noise, then nothing. Black
screen.
Sonnet G4 450, 1 meg RAM, 2 internal SCSI drives, has been humming
along happily on OS X 10.3.9 for some time, until these strange
problems started last week.
I've tried:
Holding Option at startup to try to get into OS 9
Holding Shift at startup to try a "safe start"
Pressing the CUDA switch
Removing and replacing the CPU board and pressing the CUDA switch
Any suggestions before I go to the extreme measure of reinstalling the
original processor?
Many thanks!
