Yes,

I was wondering the same thing, how would the
PowerLogix 1Ghz work in the umax.

First, isn't there an issue with the bus being only
50mhz. how does that factor in?

I've read somewhere on the Xpostfacto forum where one
fellow stated that without the cache enable, that
those cards feel like they're running at 450mhz.

Also, it's tossing another $200+ at an old machine.
It's better than buying a new $3,000 apple if the
performance is a modest increase, does anyone have an
S900 running on a Powerlogix G3 with OS 10 installed?

Ernest, I agree with Eric that the discussions that
the Sonnet 500mhz is the cutoff for their product if
you want to run OSX.Anything above that for sonnet and
your stuck with OS9.

BTW Ernest, if your friend is a patient person, you
might want to buy one of the used sonnets on ebay.
they'll function fine in even 10.3.9. I haven't tested
Tiger yet. There's a bit of a slowdown, but then, i'm
comparing it to the dualG4 i have at work. Everything
will run fine, and multitasking is still multiatsking
with the beach ball tossed in here and there.
