I have four SeaMonkey profiles. I was using Thunderbird to compose a

two those profiles.

When I switched from A to B, the window for B opened behind the
Thunderbird window. When I switched from B back to A, the window for A
opened in front of the Thunderbird window. Why do I see this
inconsistency?

By the way, this switching back and forth between profiles is why I use
Thunderbird as my newsreader rather than SeaMonkey's Mail& Newsgroups
component. With the latter, my Mail& Newsgroups session would have
closed while going from profile A to B. While in profile B, I would not
have the same newsgroup history as I had when I started composing even
if I duplicated the Mail& Newsgroups portion of profile A into B.

I don;t have an answer for your main question. However, you could use the Mail and Newsgroup Account Settings and use the Local Directory field to point your multiple profiles to the same mail and newsgroup data.

You do have to be careful not ot overwrite your news rc files, but it can be handy.

I do this to have the same mail/news data in SeaMonkey, Thunderbird, and Netscape 7.2. It can work as well for multiple profiles in SeaMonkey.
