Well, then it sounds wrong. What he probably wanted to say is that the redesigned profile handling we inherited from the newer Mozilla platform would not have supported profile switching at all, and to even get it in SeaMonkey 2 at all we needed to emulate it in a way that actually restarts the whole application, even if that restart might be faster than a normal application start.
