I would not do that. I never have any software update automatically. I
want to control what gets updated and when it happens.

I can see why you would not, I used to be like that too. I wanted control and to be in charge of what was going on with my computer. After my last malware attack and a weekend of cleaning, I discovered that one chink in the armor was not having all the latest updates for Java, among others. I had gotten behind in agreeing to the updates. Many of them are security related. Now, I am just too busy to be assessing and installing updates for all the OS, software, its components, antivirus anymore and need to have it done automatically.
So thanks for your input.
Anyone know where I can find the Java control panel so I can select auto-updates? A google search says Control Panel>Java but I do not see it there.
Dave

Do a file search on your system for Javacpl.cpl. If found, click on it and it will bring up the Java Control Panel.

If it is not found, check to see if Java is listed under Add/Remove Programs.

If it is listed, uninstall it, then go to Sun.com and download the latest release of Java.

Install it and that should give you your Control Panel icon back at which point you can reset Automatic Updates.

Actually I think it is set to auto-update by default.
