I'm not concerned much of a whit about local access...I'm more concerned
about hackers.

Sure, but they need to gain access to your local system to read any unencrypted files, so I mostly care about making it as impossible as I can for them to gain this local access, and then I don't have to worry about encrypting what I store locally.

But I know different people have different strategies there.
