Sorry, forgot to ask: what OS & SeaMonkey version? Reason for asking is
that in linux if you bring up 'about:config' and enter 'mime' in the
filter you'll find
helpers.global_mime_types_file;/etc/mime.types
helpers.private_mime_types_file;~/.mime.types
These are not present in the Win7 SM 2.0.4 that I just booted up.
