"Secure Authenticated Logon to Our Server:
Before posting any articles to our server you must configure your
newsreader to logon with a Username and Password.
Configure SeaMonkey with the server name. Try to fetch news, SeaMonkey
prompts for password.
For Mr Merrill's problem, it may help to know which news server he is
trying to access. Sounds like it is some non-standard affair.
It is news.grc.com, thank you.
Server Name: news.grc.com
Port: 119
Security Settings: None
check - Always request authentication when connecting to this server
Done.
Now here is the trick: when you first post (do it at g.test so that you
are sure it's working& you don't piss off anyone in the regular groups)
enter a *password* of your choice when it prompts you for a _username_.
Then when prompted for a password, enter the same password that you
entered when prompted for a username. When you then look at your
password manager in SeaMonkey you will see two entries for grc:
news://news.grc.com (news://news.grc.com/#password)
news://news.grc.com (news://news.grc.com/#username)
They _both_ should be the same.
Thanks - I'll give that a whirl!
