Would be a nice built in Menu feature, if I'm not missing something...

...ok...I just did it by manipulating files within my Profile.

Nevermind...

I have several Usenet accounts, and even of late with the spamming here and here-abouts, I've often thought it would be useful to have just one set of filters that apply to each and every account!!

I suppose if it really worried me, I'd hop into prefs.js and make it so that there was just one filter file that applied to every account!

What I did was to duplicate the msgFilterRules.dat file in the one account I had one for, move it out of the folder, change the file name from "msgFilterRules copy.dat" to "msgFilterRules.dat" and place that file into the folder for the Account where I wanted the duplicate. Then I added a few additional line items for that filter using Edit.

Long way round, but it worked. This gets me a global filter rule set for the account, but I also noticed it seems one can filter individual subscriptions within an Account. I imagine a similar action would work for that too, but is sure would be nice if this ability were built into Mail/News Prefs somewhere.
