...hmmmnn...next question - can I specify an Account Server by it's IP
address instead of using it's name?

forex: I get my usnet access via my ISP server - netnews.mchsi.com - but
there doesn't seem to be a way for me to access it off my home network.
I've been wondering if I were to set up the account using the server IP
address instead of "netnews.mchsi.com" if I might be able to access it
from anywhere on any network - which I'd like to do when using my laptop
and roaming around.
From the previous, it's dawned on my to collect the server IP addy from
the .js file mentioned.

netnews.mchsi.com is an alias for news.isp.giganews.com.
news.isp.giganews.com has address 216.196.97.142
I think each ISP that contracts to Giganews likely gets it's own subnet
as part of it's service contract - I've tried using the Giganews server
names and not gotten anywhere...but I'll try some permutations of the
above and see where I get. I think I'll need to be on another network
to really test it though, and/or need the specific IP addy for the MCHSI
server itself.
I've found some discussion on this (off-net access to
newtnews.mchsi.com) on the web, but now answer. You can use SSL and
password for accessing e-mail, but that doesn't work for accessing their
NNTP server.
