I’m on a stable SM 1.1.18 for the Mac now.
Is there a recommended way to go directly to the latest v.2.0.10?
Or, must I DO it in stages?
What should I remove first, if anything?
My approach will be: (i am under windowsXP)
1. Stop SM.
2. Copy somewhere the 1.1.18 profile (in case of...)
3. Remove the SM 1.1.18 version
4. Install the SM 2.0.10
5. I think that if you start the SM 2.0.10 for the first time, the
profile migration will occur.
FWIW, my experience was the opposite. I have two identically configured
WinXP machines (except for some minor equipment differences such as
monitors), and I upgraded both from SM 1 a few months ago. On the
machine where I left V.1 in place and then removed it after installing
V.2, all went well. On the machine where I uninstalled V.1 first and
then installed V.2, SM created an entirely new profile and overlooked my
existing one, including all plugins and add-ons. I then had to complete
the upgrade manually.
I do remember being advised to remove V.1 before installing V.2, and I
followed directions before learning that they didn't work. It was the
second machine on which I installed right over V.1.
