A very long time ago in a quite different software project, I strongly
advocated using existing user interfaces to set controls and avoiding
when possible tampering with database flags.  In the case of
Mozilla-related products, "controls" = preferences and "database flags"
= preference variables.  I will, of course, follow my own advice.

On occasion, I might filter and ignore all newsgroup messages
posted through GoogleGroups via Google's G2/1.0 user agent
because of spam from that source.
