as an another possible reply, I would like to mention nosquint
extension, that permits :
page zoom and/or
text zoom adjustments,
and give you access to :
control wheel up/down for page zoom, and/or
control shift wheel up/down for text zoom

Good extension. Does it work in v2.1 though since it is not official a
SM2 extension from the developer?
It doesn't. It does zoom, but only from the two buttons you can add to
the toolbar; the icon in the status bar does not work; site-specific
settings are not remembered
