as an another possible reply, I would like to mention nosquint
extension, that permits :
page zoom and/or
text zoom adjustments,
and give you access to :
control wheel up/down for page zoom, and/or
control shift wheel up/down for text zoom

see
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=531039

unfortunately this has not been done as asked (same in firefox)
but hopefully provided by nosquint extension

Good extension. Does it work in v2.1 though since it is not official a
SM2 extension from the developer?

It doesn't. It does zoom, but only from the two buttons you can add to
the toolbar; the icon in the status bar does not work; site-specific
settings are not remembered

Damn, I guess I can't upgrade to v2.1 yet. :(

I have made some more tests with nosquint (as I also found that
extension quite useful).
What I wrote above is only true for nosquint 1.93 (the version on
mozillazine).
Version 2.12, the latest, does not work at all.

But... there are some alternatives (actually, NoSquint has almost become
redundant, now!):
1. Most of NoSquint is now included in SM2.1: if you open about:config,
you can set:
- browser.zoom.siteSpecific to true, to remember site-specific zoom values
- browser.zoom.full : if set to true, zooms text+images. if set to
false, zooms text only

2. In "preferences", you can enable zooming if you ctrl+scroll

3. You can get even more by installing PrefBar (not officially SM2.1
compatible, but it does work):
- you can add a new toolbar, which can have two Font+ and Font- buttons
(similar to the two + and - buttons you could put in your toolbar with
NoSquint), to change text zoom with buttons;
- you can quickly switch (just by ticking a box) between font indicated
in the webpage and use default font (useful if the page uses horrible
fonts); you can remove colors, etc.

So basically, I think the only thing which is still missing is to find a
quick way to switch between zoom text only <-> zoom text+images

thank you for this test (very usefull)
I would add some remarks
nosquint exists only because of a poor management of the possibilities of the toolkit since SM 2.0 ( as a clone of firefox at this point of view)
you can find browser.zoom.full in the prefs / appearance / content
this is the negation of the fact that the zoom could be adjusted both ways (text only and full ) concurrently , something is missing in the user interface. last versions of nosquint lack any reference to seamonkey in the install.rdf file I think it's the only reason why it does not work
