On Linux or Mac it will say it's only for Windows, but you can safely
ignore that and click "Install for Windows anyway".
Wait. "Works with: * Firefox 4.0b1 - 4.0.*". I am still using v4.6.5 in
my SM v2.0.14. Are you saying we can use newer versions that don't say SM?
I'm saying you can use that very version that I specified.
Unfortunately add-on authors do not always update the compatibility
information in all places. Basically there are two: What AMO claims, and
what the add-on file (XPI/install.rdf) claims. The latter determines
which applications the add-on is compatible with. If an application
(e.g. SeaMonkey) is not listed there, the add-on won't install, even if
AMO tells differently (e.g. that's the case with Slim Add-on Manager
version 5.0). I know that sucks, but it's a fact.
Now if an add-on file claims compatibility with any version of SeaMonkey
and you have the Add-on Compatibility Reporter installed, then you'll be
able to install that add-on, even if AMO says it's not compatible with
that application. This is the case with ColorfulTabs 4.8.1.6.1.
Lastly, if an add-on file claims compatibility with an application but
with a lower version than what AMO claims, AMO wins. This is actually a
good thing since it allows add-on authors to simply bump the AMO data
and be done with it; no need to release new files. Now if only AMO was
able to check its own compatibility claims against those of the add-on
file in question...

P.S.: Before anyone asks: I won't check into those AMO deficiencies.
AFAIK they switched their back-end from PHP to Python, and my abilities
there are 10:0.
