I have tried that. In case I did it wrong, I tried it several times
over 6 weeks. What I attempted to do was extract file nsLoginManager.js
from the zipped omni.jar, change the
return true;
to
return false;
and then reinsert nsLoginManager.js back into omni.jar.
This is more complicated than it sounds because nsLoginManager.js is in
a subfolder. When adding nsLoginManager.js back into omni.jar zipped
archive, I had to ensure that the proper subfolder indicator went with it.
No matter what I did, I could not overcome the blocking of passwords.
On the other hand, I installed Remember Passwords 1.0.1 and tested it.
With it disabled, some passwords were blocked and not saved. With it
enabled, I have not yet encountered a failure to save passwords. It
works even for split logins.
Note: I posted a review of the extension at AMO.
