Am I losing my mind here? I don't ever remember SM doing this before.

Per the convention described in Section 4.3 of RFC 3676, everything
below the delimiter is considered part of the signature. Newsgroup
applications are supposed to strip away the signature from a quoted
prior message when composing a reply to a newsgroup message.

For some strange and ancient reason, Thunderbird (and thus SeaMonkey's
Mail-News component) also applied this convention to E-mail messages.
As of TBird 5.0, that should be an option in TBird. I don't know if
that option has yet been picked up for SeaMonkey.

I understand that. However, and we've had discussions about this in the long ago past, the message stripping did not happen in email, just newsgroups. So, my query was "What the heck? Why is this now happening in email?" Never have seen it before. Or I'm having a Glen Campbell moment? Geez, I hope not, I've got too much invested in guitars for that at only 61! :-)

For every action, there is an equal and opposite criticism.
