Now here's something interesting... if I compose an html email
(Compose|Compose in HTML) on linux (I'm using 2.3.3 for the testing),
I can select Wingdings as a font to use. On Windows (again SM 2.3.3)
the dropdown doesn't show Wingdings at all, even though it is
installed and used by other applications (aka LibreOffice, OpenOffice
etc.). So it's definately an SM issue with the Windows version. Can
someone test on a MAC?
Also note that the windings font I am using in linux is the exact
same wingdings.ttf file used in WinXP, in fact that's were I got it
from (WinXP). I simply copied the file from WinXP and dropped it into
my ~/.fonts folder for use on linux.
Yeah, my SM does the same thing -- it doesn't offer Wingdings, Windings
2, or Wingdings 3 even though other applications such as MS Word can see
them. It also doesn't offer Animals 1 (where each glyph is an image of
an animal); nor Business & Government (where each glyph is a business-
or government-related icon); nor DF Calligraphic Ornaments LET, DF
Diversions LET, DF Diversities LET; nor Marlett; nor MS Reference
Specialty; nor MT Extra; nor Symbol; nor Webdings; nor any of the WP
fonts left over from the WordImperfect days of yore, except that it does
offer WP Typographic Symbols.
Not sure yet whether SM is unwilling ("this is a bad idea so I'll
pretend I didn't hear that") or unable ("I can't see them for some
technical reason") to use these fonts.
