I'm trying to talk about SeaMonkey's problem here.

In case I wasn't clear I'll say this again. The code that controls
format flowed in in 100% shared code with Thunderbird. Any improvements
to Thunderbird in this regard should automatically be picked up by
SeaMonkey without us having to do anything.

You are thinking in the 'hypothetical'.

I am viewing SM messages in the real-world.

Here are 3 examples for you to examine by their message source; 2 of them show the problem and one does not, so you can see the difference.

After you examine the quoted material for the missing trailing spaces which were present in the original material when it was posted, perhaps you can appreciate that it isn't simply a matter of which gecko engine is in operation.

Demonstrate the strip quoted spaces problem:

Does not demonstrate the quoted spaces problem:

So, I (now) can no longer say that I have never seen a SM version message which does not strip the trailing spaces of quoted material when it is in f=f enabled, but I had not previously examined as many SM messages as I have recently.
