I did have the public beta of Windows 7 on a virtual machine and one of the first things I did was installl the first version classic shell. I plan on installing it immediately when I get a new computer this year. I remember even with the first version, it fixed some Explorer issues and users were clamoring for more fixes. It was great for getting rid of the awful (to me) Win 7 Start menu.
