In spite of this SeaMonkey again updated to v2.10 with the same results
I've again reinstalled 2.91 (and incidentally noted that auto update
remains unticked)but don't really want to go through this every day :(

I think the point about Seamonkey not checking the OS Version is a
good one. Some software checks and some doesn't. Sometimes software
will appear to install (like this one) then not run.

Yes I've now followed Daniel's advice & gone back to 2.9.1 which has
retained all my settings , bookmarks etc. and unticked auto update but I
think, like Firefox it should have warned me about my OS rather than
installing and then not working
Alright, Bryan, on that same preferences screen, there is a section for
Add-ons at the top. Untick that as well!
