Uninstalling the program leaves the profile intact (they're in separate locations), unless you go to the extra effort to remove the profile manually. So no specific action is required.
That being said, if the problem is a corrupted profile, reinstalling won't help and saving the profile won't help. You'll know soon enough -- if reinstalling doesn't help, post back with details and the experts will offer you advice.
