What's going on with SM 2.13.2 not handling .pdf links now? Anytime I
click a .pdf referring link I get either a "cannot display" notice or no
download of the referenced .pdf. I also get a null page for a .aspx
referenced link.
Tried my own previous workaround (reverting to Reader 9.5.2) and now
that's not even working; it had before I updated to 2.13.2, I seem to
recall.
What's the fix, or is a fix coming?
Windows XP SP3
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:16.0) Gecko/20121026 SeaMonkey/2.13.2
Adobe Reader 11.0
Adobe Acrobat plugin nppdf32.dll 11.0.0.379
Links delivering PDF files with the MIME type application/pdf appear in
my SeaMonkey browser window. However, some Web servers fail to specify
the correct MIME type. PDF files with the wrong MIME type cause Adobe
Reader to launch and display the files in a separate Adobe window.
It's behaving differently for SM's Mac version - a .pdf will *never*
display in a Browser window for me, and it seems I cannot get a .pdf to
directly download - I have to "Save Link Target As" and open it manually
from my Desktop; and even then sometimes that works, sometimes it
doesn't - Reader claims "unknown format". A .pdf never self-launches
into Reader.
I've updated to Reader XI and it's plugins, and the problem has only
gotten worse.
Do you have both Adobe Acrobat (the writer) and Adobe Reader installed?
I found that proper viewing of a PDF link by a Gecko-based browser
(e.g., SeaMonkey) requires that the writer be installed BEFORE the
reader. If you update the writer, you must then remove and re-install
the reader (unless, of course, you are installing a newer version of the
reader right after the writer).
I only have Reader installed.
Here is a test case. Go to <http://www.rsrpd.org/admin/reports.html>
and select any "Agenda" link. These PDF links display for me in
SeaMonkey via the Adobe Reader plugin.
No...in won't display for me within the Browser. SM downloads a copy to
my Downloads folder, then opens it in Reader.
