Does this mean CheckPlaces will be removed at the next SM update?
Not automatically, no. Mr. Halford has quit development and removed
CheckPlaces from his site almost six months ago, at least two Mozilla
releases ago, and it still works.
But at some time in the future updates to the engine and API may render
the current version of CheckPlaces incompatible with Firefox/Seamonkey.
However, CheckPlaces is GPL'd and it even has the source code hosted on
GitHub. So it's mostly a matter of finding another developer to adopt it.
