I've recently set up the SeaMonkey 15.1 newsreader on Win7, and after a
break-in period for both application and user, I think I've got it working
basically correctly. But there seems to be one annoying problem in that in
many instances, although not all of them, a selected header can take a long
time to download the message, and once it does the cursor stays in animated
mode until either I close down and reopen, or open a message in a new window
rather than reading it in the message pane.

This doesn't make the program unusable, but it should work better than this,
so I'm wondering if there is any way to fix it.

Actually, the same behavior can be triggered by just selecting a newsgroup in the folder pane.
