I've recently set up the SeaMonkey 15.1 newsreader on Win7, and after
a break-in period for both application and user, I think I've got it
working basically correctly. But there seems to be one annoying
problem in that in many instances, although not all of them, a
selected header can take a long time to download the message, and
once it does the cursor stays in animated mode until either I close
down and reopen, or open a message in a new window rather than
reading it in the message pane.

This doesn't make the program unusable, but it should work better
than this, so I'm wondering if there is any way to fix it.

I've also noted a drastic deterioration in performance in the past week
or so. Messages can sometimes take two or even three minutes to load.
Once the first message loads, all is well. Is it a server issue, or a
news client issue?

FWIW, about a week ago, the message count changed drastically. It used
to be 77-thousand-odd, now it's 39,405. Did someone purge 38,000 old
messages from the server?

Paul, just FYI, I'm currently showing 76,041 msgs in this group! m.gen has 61,411.
