Samuel, you may have hit on something here with the U.S. Yahoo accounts
having limitations! (Ran into that type of thing trying to buy music
tracks from Amazon!!)
And to make matters worse, one of the Australian Free-to-Air T.V.
networks (Seven Network) has partnered with Yahoo, so the T.V. chns
website is Yahoo!7.com.au, so I was wondering if I actually needed the
"!7" in my Yahoo address.
More testing required (and, yes, I agree with you about the no-customer
service!! but I'm still waiting for my reply!!)

I was able to access Seven Network, it is yahoo7.com.au (no asterisk)...
goes right through.
